I’m making music these days

I think money’s a very stupid thing because ain’t nobody gonna take their money with them to their graves. Alexander died. His legacy lives on, sure, but his money ain’t of no worth to him where he’s buried. The same can be said for Ozymandias. Walter White. Walter Cronkite. Jesus Christ (except, well, Jesus wasn’t about money, was he?). Steve Jobs. Etcetera. So, yeah, sure, I hustle every now and then to earn a little bit of money here and a little bit of it there from freelance ghostwriting, but I’m more of a hobbyist, a passionist, an explorer of the mind and the body and the soul through learning new and old things alike, things like theology, history, science, magic, music, literature, various art forms, computer programming languages, game design, chaos theory, music theory, the mathematics of infinity, and so on and so forth.

And I’m not one to speak from a position of privilege either. I’ve seen tough times, but I’ve risen from the aforementioned tough times by working hard and getting to where I am today. I’ve earned thousands of dollars from freelancing, and I think that’s just about enough for me. I’m all about building a legacy. And building a legacy times time, perseverance, patience, and willfulness.

So these days, bored from digital marketing, ghostwriting, web development, business development, and all that other jazz, I’m just making random music.

Ibsta Tech, my company (startup, more like it), is fine and up and running and we’re working on some projects, me and my team, but I wanna take a break from that and do some of that soul searching.

I’ve been blogging since 2015. It’s sort of like a religious thing for me, considering my Holy father in Maine, hallowed be his name, Stephen King, writes every day and is quite literally one of the most prolific authors of all time — and the best, as well, in my humble opinion.

Here’s my blog. It’s called Abe Learning Things. On it I document things that I learn, things that I do, some random poetry, short stories, yada-yada. It’s sort of like my brand. I’m all about that organic marketing. I don’t spend money on these platforms to get famous or whatever. Becoming famous is not something that I’m cut out for because, well, I’m very opinionated about a lot of things and when the vox populi give you a pulpit to stand on, they expect you to become didactic about the causes that the proletariat masses feel strongly about and, yes, I am a huge feminism advocate as well as mental health advocate and I’m all about diversity and celebrating different cultures, but sometimes a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do and do his own thing.

For me that own thing right now is making random music. It’s therapeutic for me.

Here’s my SoundCloud where I’m doing all the weird stuff that I just mentioned.

I kind of want to share the tracks here as well.

  1. This one’s inspired by Dante.

2. This one’s inspired by Stranger Things.

3. This one’s about succubi under your bed.

4. And this fourth one, it’s about feeling overwhelmed.

Sadly, in Pakistani culture, conservative religious orthodoxy has our previous generation looking at music and other art forms like sculpting and drawing images as if they’re taboo — at least in my case. I’m sick of that, for one. If I want to make music, I’ll make music. If I want to draw, I’ll draw. What else do I do? I’m literally an artist, man. A peace-loving, cigarette-smoking, coffee-drinking, liberal-as-the-French artist.

And that’s about it. I think I’ll make like a tree and leave.

Peace. Take care. Abe aka Bboy Ibsta out.
